Priced at $500, the NEC NP100 is clearly a budget projector. It's built around a DLP engine and has a native resolution of 800-by-600. It measures 3.3 by 10.7 by 8.1 inches and weighs just 5.3 pounds, making it a mobile projector as well. It comes with a remote that's easily stowed at the top of the projector and held in place by a magnet. The reviewer stated that the remote is designed well, with buttons spaced far enough apart and arranged to make the layout easy to remember. At the rear of the projector are the connectors that include a VGA connector, S-Video, RCA composite video, and pass-through monitor connectors. However, the package includes only the VGA port cable. NEC claims that the NP100 can achieve 2,000 lumens. Test results, on the other hand, showed that it's capable of achieving up to 2,047 lumens. It has a contrast ratio of 282:1 - a respectable score for a DLP projector. While it does have on-board audio, the volume is too low to the point of uselessness. It also lacks a quick-shutdown feature, taking a minute to fully cool-down the projector. Despite some minor annoyances, for those in the market for a cheap business projector, you might want to check out the NEC NP100.
Pros:
-relatively cheap
-easy to setup
-lightweight
-easy to follow user interface
Cons:
-has rainbow effect

Having a sub-$500 price tag doesn’t seem to deter the NEC NP100 from bringing in the good stuff. It may not be the first to have such a price, but the reviewer states that it is the most impressive in that class. It features a slick white design and a weight of just 5.1 pounds which makes it the lightest budget model. Brightness test pegged the NEC NP100 with 2081 lumens- above the actual claim of 2000 lumens. Images were sharp and the colors looked good, even the often troublesome yellows. Though not able to display 1080i HDTV really well, the NEC NP100 was good enough for regular TV or DVD watching. Not seem satisfied in offering long lamp lights, the NP100’s replacement lamps are priced at $179, one of the lowest in the market. There are a few trade-offs, such as the small 36.5 inches image size at 60-inch distance as well as the very long cooldown of 2 minutes. Despite these caveats, adding all the features into the $449 price tag makes the NEC NP100 a great bargain.
Pros:
-Low price
-Strong contrast
-Long-life lamp
Cons:
-Remote control limited
