Motorola Q Reviews

Summary of review published by Smartphone & Pocket PC — February, 2007 (page 33)

The Motorola Q has a sleek, lightweight design. Its slender body is only 0.45 inches thick, making it half the thickness of the Treo 700 models. One of the features that really impressed the reviewer is the Q’s extensive multimedia capabilities. It has an on-board 1.3 megapixel camera that lets you record both snapshots and videos. The speakers also provide great audio quality - you can hear the difference when you playback your sound files. In fact, you can even play iTunes files on the Q. The display screen is also crystal clear and vivid, but it gets smudged easily without a screen protector. As for connectivity, the phone supports EV-DO broadband networks for sending and receiving text messages, emails, and surfing the internet. You can even view satellite imagery from Google Maps, MSN Virtual Earth, and Yahoo! Maps without any problems. The Bluetooth connection is also impressive, but the Q isn’t Wi-Fi enabled - unless you purchase a miniSD Wi-Fi card. However, as of the review’s time of writing, there weren’t any compatible Wi-Fi cards available. The QWERTY keypad provides easy input, along with a built-in scroll wheel.
Pros:
-Extensive capabilities for multimedia recording and playback
-Impressive audio quality from speakers
-The display is vivid and clear
-Sleek, slender design
Cons:
-Unimpressive battery life, you need to buy a high capacity battery if you’re a power user
-The LCD screen easily gets dirty without a screen protector
-Inability to edit Microsoft Office documents
-No built-in Wi-Fi capability, and as of the review’s writing, no compatible miniSD Wi-Fi cards were available
