This all-in-one GPS unit is powered by a 400MHz Intel Xscale CPU, Windows Mobile 2003, displayed on a 3.5” Transflective TFT touchpanel at 320 x 240 and 64k colors. Expansion is handled by CD and SD slots, while internal is 40MB of main memory and 125 MB Flash. Battery is a removable, rechargeable Li-ion, but reviewer was unable to note battery life, as it was plugged in with the multitude of included cords. Bluetooth is included, although as an add-in CF card rather than an internal system, taking up the one CF slot. Maps are pre-installed with user's home area ready, as well as a U.S. Highway map, eliminating the PC from the equation if desired. Maps are even installable using a Bluetooth cell phone. Loading detailed regional information like points of interest are accessible by separately purchasing one of 17 regional maps or the entire U.S. on a single CF card. Plotting a trip is easy but for one quirk - routes are determined by using county designations, which are available on the unit maps, but involve the extra step of determining which counties the trip will traverse, then inserting them when needed for a waypoint. Physical navigation of the unit was found to be convenient, with the four front buttons dedicated to GPS functions like quick detour routing or favorite spots. Scrolling, both in GPS and Pocket PC modes is accomplished by a well-placed thumb scroll wheel on the side, convenient for e-books. A voice record button is located immediately above the scroll wheel, useful for taking notes while driving. Reviewer noted a lack of points-of-interest in his home area database, missing hospitals, police stations and libraries, as well as lacking many local gas stations and restaurants.
