Mio Moov 200 Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — July, 2008

The Moov 200 is the latest, entry-level navigation device by Mio. It measures 3.3 by 4.9 by 0.7 inches and weighs in at 5 ounces. It has a conventional 3.5-inch, 320-by-240-pixel anti-glare screen that's viewable even in direct sunlight. To reduce the warm start of the device, a sensitive 20-channel SiRFstarIII receiver with InstantFix II comes with it. The map data on the Moov 200 is powered by Tele Atlas. Included are the maps for just the 50 states and Puerto Rico. While the maps are limited, the built-in language support is quite good. It offers 17 languages and each of them comes with multiple voice options. You also get text-to-speech capability, a handy feature that pronounces street names. The maps are presented in either the traditional 2D and 3D views. The reviewer noted that the Moov 200 provided instructions at proper interval and route recalculation times for a missed turn were acceptable. It has a 3.5-million-entry POI database, though the method of searching for an entry is difficult and time-consuming. Even the POI handling is sluggish, taking 18 seconds to display the keyboard after selecting “Search Nearby.” Nonetheless, for those in the market for a budget GPS device, the Mio Moov 200 is worth considering.
Pros:
-cheap
-comes with 20-channel SiRFstarIII receiver
-multisegment routing

Cons:
-lacks vehicle profiles
-slow POI search
-limited POI search
