Mio Knight Rider GPS Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — September, 2008

Whoever said navigating ain’t fun probably never heard of the Knight Rider GPS by Mio. It features the voice of K.I.T.T., bringing back old memories from the '80s. The Knight Rider offers a large 4.3-inch display. It’s encased in a glossy black frame with red lights on either side that blink when K.I.T.T. talks. To make the experience more realistic, the Knight Rider can memorize 300 names and greet you by name with five randomized salutations. A black interface matches the overall appearance of the Knight Rider. The menu is clearly arranged and entering an address is a simple process. The reviewer noted that it doesn’t pronounce street names, though you can install text-to-speech. The POI database only has 4 million entries, which the reviewer found to be on the small side. The menu was sluggish at times despite the 400-Mhz processor under its hood. Rerouting, on the other hand, was quite fast at about 4 seconds. For nostalgic reasons, the Knight Rider GPS will surely make you remember all those great episodes with the help of K.I.T.T. But beyond that, you might want to look for a better GPS device.
Pros:
-uses the actual voice of Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T.
-4.3-inch screen
Cons:
-overpriced
-small POI database
-sluggish menu
-no street pronunciation
