Microsoft’s Zune Player gets an even bigger capacity with its 16GB variant. It looks similar to its 4 and 8GB predecessors. The colors available are dependent on the capacity of the player. The 3.6-by-1.6-by-0.3-inch player has a bright 1.8-inch, 320-by-240-pixel screen and an excellent touchpad beneath it. The reviewer noted that while the photos and videos looked sharp, it would have been better if the screen was bigger. The bundled earbuds lack strong bass, so you might want to upgrade them. It supports a wealth of audio and video formats. The Zune also supports 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. However, despite the wireless capabilities, you would need to be a Zune Pass subscriber or already have MS Points in your account before you can download or purchase songs directly to your Zune. One other caveat: if you decide to discontinue your subscription, all of your purchased tunes will be disabled. The reviewer noted that the Zune 16GB's battery life is rated at 24 hours for audio and 4 hours for video playback, though the reviewer noted that their unit lasted only 15 hours and 36 minutes. While the Zune is a solid multimedia player, the lack of new designs may just give new buyers second thoughts.
