Selling standalone web cameras at an age when most systems come equipped with a built-in one is a challenge. That, however, did not deter Microsoft from releasing their latest standalone web cam, the LifeCam Show. Measuring 2.4 x 1.3 x 0.5 inches, the LifeCam’s slender profile can easily blend in. It has a flat, glassy front, a silver rim and a chocolate-colored satin back. Circular indentations around the camera allows for three different attachment options. The reviewer stated that the LifeCam is compatible with a variety of popular IM clients. According to Microsoft, the 2-megapixel sensor can take up to 8-MP photos. Video resolution is locked at 800 x 600 pixels, though the reviewer noted that video quality is fluid with only barely noticeable latency around the mouth. It comes bundled with an improved special effects package that includes distortions, fun filters, and facial accessories. For top-notch video quality and sleek design, the Microsoft LifeCam Show is an excellent option.
