If you are one of those who are absolutely obsessed with portability, then you will love Microsoft’s Arc Mouse. The Arc Mouse comes in black and burgundy color schemes. It fits perfectly in your hand and doesn’t distinguish between lefties and righties. When in use, the mouse measures 4.4 inches. The Arc Mouse can be folded up to a little more than half its size for easy storage and carrying. A magnetized depressed area can hold the USB dongle. The controls are pretty much standard, though a button that controls the Back function in a browser is added. The reviewer noted that the button is awkwardly placed and hard to reach. The Arc uses laser technology that allows it to work on any surface. Scrolling was smooth and quick and all the buttons responded nicely. Installing Microsoft’s IntelliPoint software added a few more options to the Arc such as button assignments and pre-programming the settings. It has a rated range of 30 feet and runs using two AAA batteries that could last for up to six months. Some may balk at the $59.95 price tag, but the portability and flexibility of the Arc Mouse make it winner.
