Litepanels Micro LED Light Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — August, 2008

Litepanels decided to adapt the latest innovation in LED lighting technology to come up with the Litepanels Micro LED Light. It is a small array of 48 super-bright LEDs that can be fastened on to your camcorder's accessory shoe. The reviewer noted that LED beats incandescent lamps in numerous ways: LEDs requires less power, give off little to no heat, are completely flicker-free, daylight color-balanced and last an enormously long time. However, the Micro LED isn’t exactly very bright, with a lux rating of 970 at a 2-foot distance. It can be fully dimmed, allowing you to choose the right configuration at any given situation. The Litepanels Micro emits light at a color temperature of 5600K - roughly the same color temperature as sunlight. Powering the Litepanels Micro are four standard-sized AA batteries. You can also use the 5-12V DC power connector that can accommodate many different power sources. When it comes to durability, the Litepanels Micro casing is rather lacking - especially in the shoe mount and the flip-down filter holder. Nevertheless, the excellent battery life and the flexibility of the Litepanels Micro will surely make it a staple in any lighting kit.
Pros:
-no heat
-efficient
-lasts long
-good LED light source
Cons:
-build too fragile
