Linksys RangePlus Wireless Router WRT110 Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — September, 2008

Sitting at the low end of the Linksys’ line of routers is the low priced RangePlus Wireless Router WRT110. While it does connect to wireless-n clients, it's not a draft-n router. Instead, it uses MIMO smart-antenna technology, which is designed to deliver almost n-class throughput while also maintaining backward compatibility with wireless-g and 802.11b clients. It comes in a very sleek, smooth black and carbon-fiber grey design with no antennas to mar the shiny surface. The router has four switched Ethernet ports on the back but they're only 10/100, not Gigabit Ethernet (GigE). Installing using the Linksys EasyLink Advisor installation software is a breeze, except for the slight hiccup when the software took several minutes to recognize the DSL connection. Once done with LELA, you can log in to the WRT110's standard Web-based management interface. The WRT110 features VPN, (IPsec, or PPTP) pass-through, DHCP and NAT, and the SPI firewall. QoS is still available but not using the more recent WISH (Wireless Intelligent Stream Handling) or StreamEngine. When tested for performance, even though it can connect to wireless-n clients, the WRT110 averaged only 110 Mbps at 20 feet, 62 Mbps at 50 feet and 43 Mbps at 80 feet - slower than draft-n speeds but definitely faster than wireless-g. So if you find yourself on a really tight budget, the RangePlus Wireless Router WRT110 is the way to go.
Pros:
-cheap
-good range
-Wireless-n compatibility
-WPS enabled
Cons:
-slow
-not true draft-n
-bugs in installation
