If you can’t afford Lenovo’s ThinkPad X300’s price tag, you might want to check out the ThinkPad X200. It looks very similar to the X300 from a distance. The X200 measures 11.6 by 8.3 by 1.1 inches and weighs 3.7 pounds, making it thicker and heavier than the X300. The 12-inch screen comes in a widescreen form factor. The keyboard is even larger than the previous ones, providing a stellar typing experience. The review noted that there is no built-in optical drive, and you have to purchase the optional Ultrabase dock. It carries just the requisite ports: three USB ports, an SD card slot, a web cam and a fingerprint reader. Wireless options, on the other hand, is abundant, starting from the WWAN connectivity, the new Wi-Fi Link 5300 chipset, wireless USB, Bluetooth 2.0, and support for WiMax. Taking advantage of the Centrino 2 platform, the X200 is currently the fastest Lenovo ultraportable in the market. SYSMark 2007 Preview Overall score showed that it bested the Sony SZ791N and the Lenovo X300. The battery powered the X200 for 6 hours 10 minutes on MobileMark 2007 tests. A speedy processor, a wide range of wireless options and a 6-hour battery life make the ThinkPad X300 a solid ultraportable choice.
Pros:
-excellent performance
-excellent battery life
-a plethora of wireless options
Cons:
-no optical drive
-a bit heavy
