The T400 is a part of the T Series that sits comfortably in the middle of Lenovo's ThinkPad family. It sports the classic ThinkPad look - black chassis and keyboard. Instead of the usual sleek, black hinges, the T400 opted for plain, metallic ones. It weighs 4.7 pounds with the 4-cell battery and 5.6 pounds with a nine-cell battery. It has the requisite ports you’d normally look for in a machine, except for a memory card reader. The keyboard offers strong feedback and predictable key placement, though the entire keyboard flexed slightly when a key is pressed. It also has the familiar TrackPoint pointing stick and a highly-accurate touchpad, which is located below the space bar. The 14.1-inch LED-backlit display produced bright colors and sharp images. Benchmark test scores were impressive, getting 700 more points over the category average. The T400 also features switchable graphics, between discrete graphics and integrated mode. The reviewer noted that the Intel WiFi Link 5100 wireless 802.11a/b/g/n card provided good transfer rates. The T400 lasted 5 hours and 19 minutes in high performance mode while lasting a full 6 hours and 26 minutes in energy-saving mode. While it may be big and bulky, the T400 is one of the most powerful and longest-lasting machines in its class.
