Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — September, 2008

Jumping into the netbook fray is Lenovo with the Lenovo IdeaPad S10. Opting for simple rather than bling, the S10 has a shiny but not glossy chassis. Rounded edges give it a very thin, symmetrical design. It weighs 2.6 pounds with the 3-cell battery which is lighter than two other 10-inch netbooks. The keyboard is noticeably smaller and less comfortable at 85% full size. The touchpad is small but the rough, grip-friendly surface allowed for precise mouse movements. The S10 contains the standard set of ports including an ExpressCard/34 slot. Under the hood is a 1.6-GHz Intel Atom CPU and 1GB of RAM that provides the muscle for strong multimedia performance. However, the reviewer noted that multitasking with disk-intensive programs showed performance hits. Wi-Fi throughput was excellent, delivering 19.9 Mbps and 19.1 Mbps from 15 and 50 feet, respectively. The 3-cell battery lasted 2 hours and 23 minutes. If the battery life isn’t much of an issue, the stylish and compact Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is a good choice for a netbook.
Pros:
-fashionable design
-good viewing angles
-ExpressCard/34 slot
Cons:
-small keyboard
-unit gets warm
-short battery life
