LaCie d2 Quadra 1TB Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — January, 2008

The LaCie d2 Quadra 1TB quad-interface external hard drive is not only fast, but versatile as well. With 4 interfaces to choose from, you won’t have problems connecting the hard drive into any system. If you have to take some footage to another computer that is eSATA-impaired, you can still make use of your choice of the drive's USB 2.0, FireWire 400 or FireWire 800 connections. However, the reviewer noted that none of these interfaces will let you fully take advantage of the power and speed of the drive. Tested on an HP xw4600 system, results immediately confirmed that the LaCie is indeed a fast drive. Using the USB interface, the LaCie recorded a performance of 33.3MB/sec and averaging 33.1MB/sec for the data transfer. Switching to the eSATA interface left the USB behind with speeds of 41.5 to 82.9MB/sec, averaging 69.4MB/sec. And above all, the reviewer noted that the asking price of $500 is quite fair, considering everything you get with the LaCie.
Pros:
-Fast, Versatile due to the available interfaces, almost plug and play

Cons:
-None very significant
