Konica Minolta DiMage X1 Reviews

Total Rating: 8 of 10

Summary of review published by Digital Camera Magazine — April, 2006 (page 59)

Rated 8.4 of 10

Unlike other compact cameras in a roundup, the DiMage X1 has a rounded design resembling a soap bar, rather than the boxy design that is conventional of these cameras. This sleek exterior and the weight of the camera (5.3 ounces) make it slip easily into a pocket. However, the design and material of the X1 makes it prone to fingerprint smudging. It is also a bit larger compared to other compact cameras. One of the more impressive features of this camera is that it captures 8 megapixel images using a larger imager compared to those featured in a lineup of other compact cameras. Another reason why the DiMage X1 is larger is that the optical zoom is entirely internal. Also, the camera houses a large 2.5 inch LCD. As for the controls, they are minimal and easy to figure out and the menus are equally user-friendly. There are movie and audio record modes, but they’re not very flexible and the audio quality is noticeably poor. When it comes to storage, the camera doesn’t have internal memory, nor does it come with an SD card. The DiMage X1 doesn’t have many features, but it’s a reasonably good point-and-shooter.
Pros:
-Great image stabilizer
-8 megapixel image resolution and internal zoom lens
-Neat and organized controls
Cons:
-A bit larger than most compact cameras
-The exterior material is prone to smudging
-Features are ok, but few
