It’s easy to swamp your work desk with wires from different USB accessories. That’s why Kensington created the Wireless USB Docking Station for you to quickly connect your system with up to 5 different USB devices without the clutter. Weighing only 0.8 pounds and measuring 6.3 x 4.2 x 2.1, the all-black mini-tower has 5 USB ports, one mini-USB, and a DVI port. The Kensington dock recognized different USB devices quickly. However, read and write speeds are not as impressive. The reviewer noted that even when the dock was placed within less than a foot of a ThinkPad T61 notebook, a PNY drive had a read speed rate of only 6.1 MBps. Write speed is even worse at 3.8 MBps. At 10 feet away, the hub wrote data at 4.5 MBps, while it read at 3.0 MBps. The DVI port worked close to the rated range of 15 feet. If you have a system that supports wireless USB technology and would like to get rid of USB cords, the Wireless USB Docking Station is worth checking out.
Pros:
-can accommodate up to 5 USB devices
-instantly recognizes connected USB devices
-works with LCD monitors and speakers
-easy to setup
Cons:
-slow file transfer speeds
-no 1080p support
-expensive
