Joby GorillaPod Reviews

Summary of review published by Connected Photographer — June, 2007

Joby’s GorillaPod, at first, was not made with the handicapped in mind, but it quickly gained prominence in the disabled community as an alternative to the conventional stiff-legged tripods, which were bulky and hard to carry around. In contrast, this revolutionary new tripod has legs that bend and latch on to almost any non-slippery surface, as long as the legs can wrap around them. GorillaPod comes in three sizes, each suited to a specific type of camera. The Original GorillaPod fits most standard point-and-shoot digital cameras and some of the smaller prosumer cameras. Meanwhile, the GorillaPod SLR can handle weights up to 1.75 lbs, perfect for lightweight SLR cameras and video cameras. The most heavy-duty GorillaPod is dubbed the SLR Zoom, which can hold a whopping 6.6 lbs. It’s suitable for professional SLR cameras and can withstand the weight of even the longest zoom lenses. All the products in this line can easily be attached to a wheelchair or any sturdy object near the subject of interest, which makes it indeed very appealing.
