J. Michael Media Type-S Jib Reviews

Summary of review published by DV Magazine — May, 2008 (page 27)

No other tool can duplicate the vertical and horizontal movements a jib can accomplish for your video. While there are really long jib arms in the market, there are also those that fall in the 10'-or-less range. One such jib is the Type-S jib from J. Michael Media. Weighing 39 pounds, the Type-S falls into the compact category as it can be easily transported by plane or by car. Setting up the jib arm looks harder than it really is. Full-color instructions are included and if things get hairy, an online instructional video is available if needed. The reviewer noted that the Type-S jib is really quite simplistic in design, yet functional. The reach of the arm depends on the height of the tripod and the length of the jib arm’s extension " the Type-S extends 3' from its collapsed position. It uses bubble levels to let you know if your tripod and camera are “on the level.” A chrome weight handle raises and lowers the jib easily. And finally, a soon-to-be-available self leveling Type-S Monitor Bracket will allow you to mount a monitor for the operator. With the Type-S Jib Arm, adding zest to your videos is a breeze.
Pros:
-Compact
-Robust
-Simple design
-Easy to use
Cons:
-No monitor bracket (yet)
