JVC Everio GZ-MG555 Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — November, 2007

One can expect to remove tapes from the equation altogether when handling JVC’s Everio GZ-MG555. Though its video quality comes short when compared to its price (720x480 [SD]), one can expect to spend no money whatsoever on tapes and their organization. With its MPEG-2 format video stores in a proprietary file wrapper (.MOD), you will need software -supplied or otherwise - to edit your videos. This is a surprisingly easy process but things become cumbersome when trying to convert into a more universal format. A playback feature comes in handy, allowing you to review whatever you just recorded while the picture preview does the same for any pictures you’ve taken. What truly stands out is the GZ-MG555’s ability to take stunning images with its picture capability. Easy on the eyes and a deserving hybrid in the JVC Everio family, this two-in-one package is perfect for anybody who wishes to take spectacular photos and video at the same time.
Pros:
-30GB of hard disk space can record 7 to 37 hours of video
-Controls are easy to use
-High-quality design
Cons:
-Propriety .MOD file format
