JVC Everio GR-D850 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — June, 2008

While it may not turn heads, the JVC GR-D850 tries to keep its operation simple and direct, which gives it a certain amount of charm. A quick look and you might find it quite bulky compared to its siblings, but this added bulk makes for easier gripping and greater control. Despite being a budget camcorder, you won’t find its body cluttered with buttons. Instead, a simple directional joystick on the LCD bezel takes care of most major functions. It has a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD that provides great images even in direct sunlight. However, you won’t find any viewfinder here. Performance-wise, the reviewer stated that the GR-D850 offers superior video quality. Videos looked bright, lifelike, vivid colors and superior definition. If you need to adjust settings due to environmental factors, the reviewer noted that it’s a snap due to the simplicity of accessing the camera settings. The 35x zoom is also exceptional, giving jitter-free and stable videos even at full extension. Endurance is also great, giving a full 115 minutes on a single charge. If you are looking for a budget camcorder with power and simplicity, the JVC GR-D850 might just appeal to you.
Pros:
-Bright LCD even in direct sunlight
-Great battery life
-Good image quality and stability

Cons:
-No viewfinder
-VGA-quality stills
