The On Stage IIIp is the third ultra-compact, circular iPod speakers to be released by JBL. The IIIp looks sleek, with its partially domed, glossy black finish and black metal grille. It only has 2 controls on-board: volume control and power. While it does accept video-capable iPods, there is no way to port video to a larger screen. Performance-wise, because of the tiny drivers and the absence of a built-in subwoofer, the reviewer noted that the IIIp will struggle to fill more than a small bedroom. While bass lines were audible, the lows lacked any impact. On the other hand, the mids and highs came out with good detail. The IIIp is shielded against the GSM buzz, allowing you to plug in your iPhone without putting it in Airplane mode. The IIIp won’t function as a speaker phone, but it’s good to know you can dock it in and still not miss any important calls. The 6 AA batteries can power up the IIIp for about 12 hours of playback time. The size and portability of the JBL On Stage IIIp makes it an ideal iPod speaker in your office.
