With the price of hard drives slowly dwindling away, the once unobtainable 1TB storage drive is starting to become very affordable. One such drive is the Iomega eGo Desktop Hard Drive. It features curves and chrome caps, making it look like a beautiful flask rather than an external storage drive. The eGo weighs 2.4 pounds and houses a 3.5-inch internal hard drive. A 5GB transfer of files with the Iomega eGo Desktop Hard Drive took 4 minutes and 44 seconds, translating into a write speed of 18.0 MBps. Read test took 4 minutes and 1 second, or 21.1 MBps. While no backup software comes preinstalled, the reviewer stated that an information sheet pointed to the Iomega site for the EMC Retrospect Express HD. The Retrospect can perform partial and full backups and create restore points. If space and style comes first, the Iomega eGo Desktop Hard Drive is more than capable of providing both.
