Iomega StorCenter 150d Reviews
Summary of review published by PC Magazine — March, 2008
Iomega’s StorCenter 150d gives what most higher-end products provide at a much lower cost. It as 3TB storages space available in the form of four 750GB SATA II drives. It has an embedded Linux operating system to make setup and management simple. Because it is run on Linux, it runs on 400MHz CPU with only 256MB of RAM. Once you plug the StorCenter 150d into your network, it installs its own discovery application. You then need to discover it in your network and configure it from there. The reviewer did a series of tests with the StorCenter 150d and he found the results quite impressive. He only wishes for it to have better reporting. Though it is not for high performance tasks, the reviewer still recommends it for SMBs who require huge amounts of storage.
Pros:
-High capacity
-User-friendly interface
-Supports a number of file protocol types
Cons:
-Below average performance
-Upgrading firmware is a tedious task
-Limited logging
