Ilium Software NewsBreak Reviews

Summary of review published by Pocket PC — September, 2005 (page 35)

NewsBreak is a handy Smartphone application that can read RSS newsfeeds and deliver all the latest updates from your favorite blogs or websites within one interface. NewsBreak supports RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, and Atom feed formats. The updates you receive are automatic, since NewsBreak automatically updates the feeds when you synchronize your Windows Mobile Smartphone. However, if you’re connected to a wireless internet service, there is a feature that allows you to receive updates as soon as they have been posted. If there are some topics that you want to keep updated on, you can program keywords into NewsBreak. Once it receives information that contains those keywords, you will receive an alert that an update about that topic has been posted. This program is especially handy for Gmail users, since you can subscribe to your Gmail feed and receive notifications for new messages. You don’t have to worry about security when accessing your Gmail feed - you can use Equifax Secure Certificate Authority to synchronize NewsBreak with Gmail. Since this program is quite handy, it’s a standard bundled installation on Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphones.
Pros:
-Can read RSS 1.0 and 2.0, as well as Atom feed formats
-You can receive special notifications for keywords you enter
-Can synchronize with Gmail
Cons:
-None
