Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-300N HWN1 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — March, 2008

Everybody who has an 802.11n signal would always want to get the 100 Mbps throughput it provides. However, one major issue is the range of the signal, which is often just 300 to 400 feet. If you would still want to get decent speeds and yet, not be tied down virtually next to your router, that’s where the Hawking Technology Hi-Gain Wireless-300N HWUN1 comes in. The HWUN1 allows you to take full advantage of your 802.11n signal by giving you a range of up to 600 feet and a maximum throughput of 60 Mbps, which allows you to roam further. Getting the HWUN1 started involves a few clicks to install the software and a creation of a profile to let the device know what router to connect to. When tested against the DIR-615 wireless adapter, the reviewer stated that there is a dramatic increase in range and speed with the HWUN1. So if you want to have the freedom to move around but can live with a maximum speed of 60 Mbps, then you won’t go wrong with this adapted.
Pros:
-Dramatic increase in range
-Impressive speed at long range
-Customizable antenna for additional range
Cons:
-60 Mbps throughout even at close range
