HSTC of Canada Destinator Reviews

Summary of review published by Pocket PC — September, 2005 (page 64)

Destinator is a GPS navigation program available for both Pocket PC and Smartphone users. You can buy this software by itself, or you can buy it bundled with most available GPS receivers. According to the reviewer, it’s no surprise that Destinator has excellent graphics, since their developer pioneered the 3D view in GPS software. One of the most useful features that Destinator has to offer is that users can create their own routes by selecting endpoints and waypoints that they want to pass through. You can also select roads to avoid during your trip. If you hook it up to a GPS receiver, it pinpoints your current location and uses that as the basis of your route. The interface can be hands-off, since voice commands let you know about approaching turns. They even let you know if you’re approaching the speed limit, or if you’re going off-route. You can download several maps, and there are complete street-level maps for both the US and Canada. You can also purchase Western European Maps. Destinator is a repeat finalist for the GPS Best Software award.
Pros:
-Excellent 3d view
-Customizable routes based on user-programmed endpoints and waypoints
-Voice prompts for turns, speeding alerts, and off-route warnings
Cons:
-None
