HP xw4600 Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — January, 2008

The HP xw4600 is HP’s latest family entry into the ever-changing world of Workstations. The xw4600’s system configuration is a deviation from the normal build of Workstations. You can choose from Intel desktop based processors instead of the more common Xeon or Opteron models. Also, you get to customize your workstation just the way you like it. The reviewer tested the xw4600 using the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium and was found to be quite excellent. However, the system lacks FireWire, a standard on mass-market desktops yet optional for the xw4600. When it came to pricing, the flexibility of the xw4600 makes it quite competitive. The test system that the reviewer used had a tag price of $3,374. However, the reviewer noted that the machine’s base price, which is $778, is very competitive and how the price will go up all depends upon your choice of components.
Pros:
-Powerful system, energy saving
Cons:
-Can be quite pricey, depending on configuration
