HP iPAQ 6500 Reviews

Summary of review published by Handheld Computing — December, 2005

This slick, small (relatively at 5.8oz., 4.65” x 2.8” and 0.7” thick) unit with a full QWERTY thumb keyboard lacks Wi-Fi, and the screen is only 240 x 240 rather than the standard 240 x 320 common on most Pocket PC's, but comes with not only an SD card slot but a MiniSD slot as well. The 1.3 Mpixel digicam comes with an integrated “flash,” a bright LED that helps with low- or less-than-ideal lighting conditions. The included dock is modular, allowing different IPAQ models to be used with the same base unit. The CPU is merely adequate, running an Intel PXA272 at 312MHz. The lack of Wi-Fi is compensated for by including not only Bluetooth, but a fully-functional GPS unit as well, which the reviewer noted worked even better than expected, easily navigating within the map using the joystick. Networks are compatible with GSM/GPRS and EDGE. Lack of Wi-Fi disappointing, but a competent unit with nice features.
Pros:
-Small form-factor
-GPS receiver
-SD and MiniSD slots
Cons:
-240 x 240 pixel screens
-No Wi-Fi
