It may be called an all-in-one printer, but the HP Photosmart C4580 has most of its sight set on photo features. The C4580 deviates from the usual black-and-gray color scheme and comes instead in a glossy white case. The front panel has six buttons and a 1.5-inch color LCD display. It can be attached to a computer via a USB cable or attached to a network through 802.11b/g Wi-Fi support. As an added bonus, the C4580 comes with a Web interface that you can use to monitor the printer’s status and ink levels from any computer on the network. The printer is not without flaws. It lacks wired Ethernet option and there’s no paper tray to catch the output pages. The C4580 is no speed-demon, though it prints at an acceptable rate. On wireless, the C4580 managed 3.3 pages per minute on our five-page test document, and printed a 4 x 6 photo in 1 minute and 19 seconds. Over USB, it had a rate of 3.1 ppm, and the 4 x 6 photo printed in 1:18. Photo prints came out excellent and showed great detail as well as smooth gradients even without the special photo-ink cartridge. If other office tasks such as scanning and copying the least of your priorities, the HP Photosmart C4580 is a solidly performing photo printer.
Pros:
-very good photo quality
-simple design
-comes with a Web interface for monitoring

Cons:
-no wired Ethernet option
-no automatic document feeder
-small LCD
