HP Photosmart A636 Compact Photo Printer Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — August, 2008

All-in-ones are great if you have your own home office. However, if all you need is to print photos, a smaller dedicated photo printer such as the HP Photosmart A636 Compact Photo Printer might be better suited to you. The A636 is only 9.9 inches wide and 4.6 inches deep, so you don’t have to worry about space. Weighing only 3.4 pounds and sporting a carrying handle at the top, it’s ideal for carrying around if you need to. It has a tilting 4.8-inch touchscreen, memory card slots and a USB port. Setting up the A636 is a breeze. The A636 prints 4 x 6 and 5 x 7 photos, along with 4 x 12 panorama shots and 4 x 8 photo cards. It lets you do basic editing such as cropping photos and adjusting brightness using the stylus and the touchscreen. Speed-wise, the A636 is slow. It took an average of 1 minute and 27 seconds to print high-resolution 4 x 6 photos. Image quality isn’t spectacular either; photos looked sharp but overexposed. Nonetheless, the editing capabilities, the touchscreen and the pretty-good print quality of the HP Photosmart A636 Compact Photo Printer make it a good choice.
Pros:
-simple to use
-compact
-large touchscreen
-editing and effects built-in
Cons:
-overexposed photos
-slow printing speed
