The HP Pavillion HDX Entertainment Notebook was an excellent notebook - albeit a very heavy one at a back-breaking 15.8 pounds. This time, HP extends the HDX brand to lighter notebooks, namely the HDX 16. The HDX 16 features a glossy patterned lid, palm rest and touch pad. It weighs in at a manageable 6.8 pounds - light enough for a mainstream laptop. The keyboard is quiet and comfortable, and a touch-sensitive panel of buttons is located just above it. It has a 16-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The reviewer noted that the display produced vibrant colors and sharp details. However, the small range of viewing angles was a let-down. Audio punch is provided by Altec Lansing and quality is far better than most notebooks. It carries the usual ports including an ExpressCard/34/54 slot, a fingerprint reader and a 5-in-1 memory card reader. The reviewer noted that the HDX 16’s performance ranged from good to excellent. Benchmark scores are above average, allowing for seamless multitasking. Graphics is no slouch either, garnering excellent scores. Wi-Fi throughput was strong all throughout and the six-cell battery lasted 1 hour and 59 minutes. For those who want a seriously powerful multimedia machine, the HP HDX 16 is an excellent notebook.
Pros:
-excellent performance
-full 1080p display
-powerful graphics
-excellent Wi-Fi scores
-excellent sound quality
Cons:
-limited viewing angles
-touchpad has too much resistance
