HP Mini 1000 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — October, 2008

HP first entered the mini-notebook market with the 2133 Mini-Note, but was left behind by the competition when 10-inch systems became the rage. Now, HP has caught up through the new 10-inch HP Mini 1000. Together with the AC adapter, it only has a travel weight of 3 pounds. The keyboard is excellent, though it lacks the 2133’s DuraFinish. The matte black keys provided good tactile feedback and the panel had no bend or flex. The touchpad is still small and narrow vertically. The mouse buttons are awkwardly placed on the left and right of touchpad. Because of the overall size of the Mini 1000, compromises had to be made such as the loss of a USB port, a full-size VGA port and an ExpressCard slot which the 2133 had. The 10.2-inch, glossy, LED-backlit display with a native resolution of 1024 x 600 provided extremely clear images and had a good range of viewing angles. Performance is at par with other netbook systems and the integrated graphics chip scored 200 points above the category average. The Mini 1000’s currently shipped with three-cell batteries that lasted 2 hours and 56 minutes during tests. If you can live with the relatively short battery life, the stylish and compact HP Mini 1000 is an excellent choice.

-roomy keyboard
-bright display
-stylish
-compact
