HP Elite Autofocus Webcam Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — May, 2008

Megapixels in a web camera surely counts for something, but it isn’t everything. The HP Elite Autofocus Webcam boasts of 12-megapixel still photos and 3-megapixel videos. It comes with a stylish, in a boxy design with chrome and piano-black color combination. 3 programmable launch buttons on the top allows for one touch access though the reviewer noted that these keys are noisy and stiff. While the 12-megapixel is something to marvel, the image quality isn’t. The reviewer noted that the large pictures were ill-lit and dull. Shutter lag also seems to plague the Elite Autofocus. The 3-megapixel video may be an interesting option for buyers, but when used, be ready for snail’s pace action. The only setting which allows for a fluid 30fps video is the standard VGA resolution. On the other hand, it does offer a 5x zoom as well as a lens that does an excellent job refocusing. It also comes with extra software to add zing to your images. However, while the HP Elite Autofocus Webcam design and specs make it look like a winner, the dull image quality and not-so-smooth video doesn’t merit the reviewer’s recommendation.
Pros:
-Autofocus lens
-Stylish design
-12-megapixel resolution
-Three programmable buttons
Cons:
-Poor image quality
-Motion blur on high-res videos
-No Mac support
