HP Compaq 6735b Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — September, 2008

Business notebooks that cost only $800 tend to under-perform, but not the HP Compaq 6735b. Looks-wise, there isn’t much to, with its bland dark gray and black color scheme, but it weighs only 5.9 pounds, making it light on your shoulders. The full-size keyboard is very comfortable and the touchpad is easy to use. Clearly missing are the multimedia keys found on HP’s Pavillion line. Meanwhile, the BrightView 15.4-inch widescreen has a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The reviewer noted that the glossy panel delivered vibrant colors and plenty of brightness. For security, the 6735b uses HP's 3D DriveGuard to protect your drive in case of a fall. It also has the TPM circuitry and HP ProtectTools suite as well as HP’s File Sanitizer. While benchmark scores are below average, the 6735b is perfectly adequate for multitasking scenarios and less-demanding 3D game titles. It may lack the beauty and power of the top-of-the-line EliteBook, but the HP Compaq 6735b still gets you the same security and durability for about half the price.
Pros:
-inexpensive
-drive encryption
-additional security utilities
-active hard drive protection
Cons:
-ho-hum design
-below average scores
-additional cost for web cam
