Gyration Air Mouse with MotionSense Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — October, 2008

It may look like a traditional mouse, but the Gyration Air Mouse with MotionSense functions more than that. The Air Mouse is about half the size of a standard mouse, perfect for bringing along with your laptop bag. It has a matte black and gray exterior with a shiny gunmetal colored top. It has six buttons which include the MotionSense controller for activating flick commands. The reviewer noted that using the Air Mouse on a desktop is decent, but when it comes to high-resolution displays, the sensitivity is too low. Double-clicking the underside button puts the mouse in Presentation mode that lets you navigate your desktop by moving the Air Mouse in midair. While it is rated for up to 100 feet of range, the reviewer stated that the Air Mouse stopped working 65 feet away, which is still remarkable. The included GyroTools software lets you designate quick-launch application shortcuts that you can activated by holding down the MotionSense button on the top of the mouse and move it in one of eight 45-degree angles within a 360-degree circle. If you have the money to spend, the Air Mouse is a good choice if you want a combination of mini-mouse and presentation tool.
Pros:
-Gestures possible through MotionSense
-compact
-easy to install
-good presentation tool
Cons:
-pricey
-not sensitive enough on high-res displays
