Most companies try to fit only the bare minimum when working with budget notebooks. The Gateway T-6828 seems to be an exception. With a tag price of $799, it offers very little trade off and much value for your every dollar. Almost a mimicry of the 15-inch M-150XL’s design, it features a brushed-metal bezel with embedded multimedia controls. The keyboard of matching silver was smooth and had ample keys. The 14.1-inch display with a glossy screen can display up to 1280 x 800-pixel resolution and had wide viewing angles. The T-6828 has the standard ports including a 5-in-1 memory card slot. Even with a whopping 3GB RAM, it still garnered below average benchmark scores. Due to the large amount of bloatware, the system was sluggish during startup. Once up and running, the reviewer noted that multitasking was hardly a problem. Battery life is adequate, lasting for 3 hours and 51 minutes with Wi-Fi off. Wi-Fi performance was decent at close range, though the throughput dropped to 11.2 Mbps at 50 feet. For a budget machine, the T-6828 offers a lot of features not commonly found in others. And with two years of warranty, the T-6828’s value is hard to beat.
