Gateway E-66100 SB Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — January, 2007

The reviewer has high hopes for this machine, with its high build quality and quick performance. At first sight, it divulges some of its potential: dressed in black with blue power LEDs and a silver-accented optical scroll mouse. It is housed in a solid case with 120mm fans, which keeps the machine very quiet. Inside, it’s a different story altogether. Once booted, the desktop is refreshingly clean with only the Windows Media Player, Adobe Reader, and Recycle Bin icons visible. You won’t have problems running any current editing apps like Adobe, Sony, Ulead or Avid on this system. The reviewer notes its limitations with regards to the VGA connection. The video in Premier Element’s gray interface was lower in quality than if it were going through a DVI cable. In lieu with coming developments, the machine will be able to handle Vista; however versions of Home Premium or Ultimate editions instead of Windows Vista Business are recommended. The reviewer was very satisfied with this workstation, owing its long-term potential to rapid video editing and DVD authoring experience.
Pros:
-Great value for money
-Minimal noise/hum
Cons:
-DVI cable not included
