Garmin’s reputation for quality GPS solution is impeccable. The Mobile XT, however, may just be a smudge to that reputation. Offered as a microSD, the Mobile XT comes preloaded with North American maps and 6 million points of interest, and the software is compatible with more than 70 phones. Getting the software to start is easy, but acquiring GPS signal is not. The reviewer stated that it often took several minutes to acquire enough GPS satellites to pinpoint or position and it did not improve with repeated use. The POI database is also out of date, and because it’s static, you have to pay extra to have it upgraded. During the actual navigation, the reviewer stated that the interface is quite disappointing with screen space wasted with too little information. The reviewer also found the advertisements shown when the software is rerouting an unforgivable offense. Though it does offer lifetime free traffic, weather, and fuel price info, the reviewer found that only the fuel price info to be the most useful. If you are looking for a bargain priced navigation system, then Mobile XT is an acceptable deal. Otherwise, you are better off looking somewhere else.
