Fossil Wrist Reviews

Summary of review published by Handheld Computing — September, 2005 (page 62)

This rather bulky (1/2" thick) wrist PDA is less a watch than a stripped-down Palm with some rather serious compromises. Included are apps like Jot, Address/Contacts book, Calculator, Memo and To Do List. Things not included are such niceties and necessities as a color screen, WiFi and Bluetooth (although IRDA is supported), as well as a lack of backup storage and short battery life. If this battery goes, so does everything you haven't synced to the PC. The reviewer was particularly miffed by the lack of a sweep or digital second hand on any of the 12 different watch faces, a curious oversight until explained by Palm as being necessary to save power. Backlight is dim, but contrast is high and clear, if limited by the physical size of the device. A device whose time is not yet come.
Pros:
-Great idea
-Palm, however limited, in a compact package
-Jot works very well in its own particular manner in this device
Cons:
-No outside connectivity (WiFi, Bluetooth)
-Short battery life
-Too limited for serious Palm use
