Delver Social Graph Search Reviews

Total Rating: 6 of 10

Delver is a cross between a search engine and a social networking tool that delivers results which it deems are relevant to you. The user interface is fairly simple - a white background with large fonts. On the main page, you can do a Web, People, or Media search. Once the results are returned, they are presented in a window that’s divided in two: the left pane contains the search results and the right pane shows what you “kept.” The biggest issue surrounding Delver is privacy. The reviewer noted that you need to create a profile to start using Delver. Search results show whoever owns or recommends the pictures, video, or other content that you’re looking at. You can also click on a link to see that person’s profile and see information on what articles and other bookmarks they’ve stored as well as references that have been made to them on the Web. There is no way to make profiles private, or even choose what information appears. Search results are also rather meager, delivering only 47,661 Web hits for “Michael Phelps,” while Google returned 12.6 million hits. Nonetheless, if what you are looking for are the best viral videos around, you might want to check out Delver. Just be aware of the privacy issues.
Pros:
-ideal for media discovery
-search is strengthened by adding social networking profiles
Cons:
-limited privacy control
-skimpy search results
