Dell’s Vostro small-business PC line gets a new member with the Vostro 410. It has a case that is larger than the Vostro 200 and 400 due to the extra space for more hard drive and optical drives. The base model for the Vostro 410 is very basic with 1GB of memory, a dual-core processor, 80GB hard drive, Windows XP Home, and relatively anemic ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro discrete graphics card. Just like the 200, it comes with Dell’s small-business services such as 10GB of online storage linked to the Vostro and a specialized tech-support line for Vostro users. By default, Vostro units are void of bloatware. The reviewer noted that the unit they tested came with Windows Vista Business pre-installed, and a better set of specs than the basic one. With a quad-core processor and 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM, it achieved a benchmark score of 150 points on BAPCo's SYSmark 2007 Preview. The Photoshop CS2 test was done in a speedy 30 seconds and it was able to play the 3D game World in Conflict at 61 frames per second at 1,280-by-1,024 resolution, making the Vostro 410 a good dual-purpose machine. You may have to pay a bit more premium than other similarly configured systems, but the lack of bloatware and the small-business services make the Dell Vostro 410 a good deal.
Pros:
-small amount of crapware
-lots of expansion space
-good performance
-high-powered 3D
Cons:
-only 1-year warranty
-a bit expensive
