Rated 4 of 5

The Dell Vostro 1310 may have the Vostro, but not the Vostro look. Compared to the others, it’s sleeker and lightweight. The notebook measures 9.5 by 12.6 by 1.5 inches (HWD). The lid is glossy pitch-black and lightly drizzled with shiny speckles. It only weighs 4.8 pounds, making it the lightest Vostro in the lineup. The 13-inch widescreen has an antiglare finish and delivers a pleasant movie and photo experience. The fullsize keyboard is well made and the touchpad is responsive. It has a bevy of ports, including 4 USB and one FireWire ports, though there's no HDMI port. Security features include a fingerprint reader and TPM circuitry. The 1310 is highly configurable and comes with an option for discrete graphics. The review unit didn’t fare well during test, but was attributed to a previous-generation Merom core. The six-cell battery lasted for 3 hours 39 minutes on MobileMark 2007. With multiple configuration options, a stylish design, trialware-free policy and an affordable price tag to boot, the Dell Vostro 1310 is solid choice.
Pros:
-light
-cheap
-highly configurable
-no “trialware” policy
Cons:
-single speaker
-no option for cellular modem

Rarely do you see a notebook packed with everything that you need and none of what you don’t. That is what sets the Dell Vostro 1310 aside. It offers no bloatware, no features you don’t want or need and even a personalized tech support as well as end-user service option. The Vostro 1310 weighs 4.8 pounds with a body made of magnesium-alloy and titanium chassis that sparkles. It offers a full-sized keyboard, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a very responsive touchpad and comfortable mouse buttons. It has a 13.3-inch screen capable of displaying 1280 x 800 Anti-glare resolution. Viewing angles are great both vertically and horizontal. Sound quality is mediocre, due to its mono speaker. Benchmark scores for the Vostro’s performance were above average and graphic’s score was even better. On the other hand, battery life was disappointing, giving power for only 3 hours and 30 minutes, an hour below the average. What makes the Vostro even more personalized is the option to choose what you want for your system. From OS to the processor, you can customize your own system exactly how you want it. Its price, versatility and performance make the Dell Vostro 1310 a first-class notebook.
Pros:
-Customizable
-Solid performance
-Decent keyboard
-Sleek design

Cons:
-Short battery life
