Daedalus Technologies DAESSY Reviews

Summary of review published by Connected Photographer — June, 2007

Quadriplegics who have a passion for photography now have a shot at being certified professional, all with the help of DAESSY by Daedalus Technologies. In essence, DAESSY is a tripod without legs. This swing mount can be readily attached to a wheelchair, which makes it ideal for the disabled. The project was pioneered by Michael Papp at the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) on Workplace Accommodations at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This adapted camera system has levers attached to the tripod's controls, making it easier to maneuver. With a price tag of $823, this solution will most likely appeal to professionals and serious enthusiasts rather than casual hobbyists.
