D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N Router Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — March, 2008

It may be the most inexpensive N router in the market, but that doesn’t mean it performs the worst. The D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N Router may have some trade-offs, but the reviewer claims you won’t notice them. They removed one antenna and the Gigabit Ethernet feature from the flagship model DIR-655 to come up with this budget model. Getting the router up and running was a breeze, and the reviewer stated that it only took them 5 minutes with the CD installer. Throughput at 15 feet was at a scorching 90 Mbps but beyond 300 feet, the DIR-615 was invisible. Even so, even at that short range, the support for WPA and WPA2 encryption standards coupled with the parental access feature to block Internet use for kids during certain hours of the day, the DIR-615 is still a real deal.
Pros:
-Most inexpensive N router
-Fast throughput
-Great features
Cons:
-Short range
-No Gigabit Ethernet port
