The Creative Labs Zen Vision media player has a clear 3.8 inch screen that is viewable outdoors. The reviewer was initially impressed with the media player’s sleek, PDA-style look. The interface is user-friendly and easy to navigate. The device supports Compact Flash cards, although an optional adapter can read Smart Media and MemoryStick cards. As for the video capabilities, even home movies look clear on the screen. It can also detect whether a video file needs to be transcoded for viewing. One complaint that the reviewer had is that transcoding sometimes takes two hours for a one-hour video. Another problem is that you can’t play your commercial DVDs on this device, unless you install illegal hacks. One of the strengths of this player is that audio playback was also noticeably crisp. Inside the Zen Vision player is a 30GB hard drive and 97 dB of range above the noise floor. It also has voice recording capability - although it’s a bit limited. A built-in FM radio tuner is featured in this unit, and radio reception is of good quality. The radio signal indicator was handy, showing the strength of the radio signal.
Pros:
-High quality audio and video
-Great FM radio reception
-Can play a lot of memory card formats
Cons:
-Hard to play commercial DVDs, unless you install decryption software
