Cowon is well known for dishing out portable media players that supports a bevy of formats, and the Cowon O2 is no different. It measures 4.7 x 2.9 x 0.7 inches and weighs 7.2 ounces - a bit bulky for your pockets. While it may seem too big, it makes good use of its size by having a large 4.3-inch, 480 x 272-pixel TFT LCD screen that displays an astounding 16.7 million colors. Control is done via the touchscreen with the included stylus. Loading files into the O2 is as simple as synching it using the bundled Cowon MediaCenter. While it supports internal metatags, you cannot use it to sort your data. Sound quality is solid, thanks to the BBE Sound’s enhancement technology. Videos look great on the O2’s roomy screen. It has a maximum external resolution of 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second, high enough to output video to a television in either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios. Also bundled with the player is a voice recorder, text document reader, and a timer for alarms. The O2 is rated to last 8 hours of video use and 18 hours of music use. If you are after a PMP with a large display and can play a plethora of formats, the Cowon O2 is a good choice.
