ContentWatch Net Nanny Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

The Net Nanny is your “Internet security guard” that offers strong controls on what your child can and can’t do while on the Internet. It has all the usual features you need on a parental control program and adds a few more such as the ability to disable chatting programs as well as file-sharing programs. The biggest hitch with the Net Nanny is the complex setup compared with similar programs. Once you do get it up and running, it provides excellent control. Configuring time management is a breeze. Search results remain clean with Safe Search. And there’s no getting around Safe Search. Once the administrator turns it on, others can’t turn it off. Children can also request for an override for a site which was blocked and the administrator can either deny or approve the request. The Net Nanny works with most popular chatting clients as well as browser, and simply downloading a different browser won’t work. Parents are provided with a report containing requests, sites tried to visit as well as complete text of instant messages. By providing a strong gauntlet of protection, you’re sure that your children are safe in the Internet with Net Nanny.
Pros:
-Simple time management setup
-Children can apply for overrides

Cons:
-User setup is confusing
-Doesn’t support Mac
