Computer Business Solutions KidsWatch Internet Safety & Parental Control Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — May, 2008

If you’re concerned about what your children are reading on the Internet, you might want to install an Internet control utility like KidsWatch. From the program’s interface, you can configure the settings for each Windows user account. For example, you may schedule a child’s computer usage and limit access to only a few applications. Depending on the profile category, some programs and web sites will be automatically blocked. You also have the option to manually block certain web sites which you think are offensive. The additional features make this version of KidsWatch a good buy if you want to upgrade from the previous version. However, if there was a choice, the reviewer would opt to explore other available programs.
Pros:
-Scheduler for computer, internet and programs
-Browser independent content filtering
-Archives IM conversations
-Real-time alerts sent by e-mail
Cons:
-Remote access feature is buggy
-Locked up experienced in testing
-IM recording can’t be turned off
-IM violations even for administrators
