ChemBook Z7-1719 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

Looking at the specs of the ChemBook Z7-1719 will make you think that it’s a bargain at its price. That is, until you see the design flaws as well as other drawbacks you’d be getting with this unit. For starters, the Z7-1719 has the backlit word “Notebook” at the lid. Aside from that, the reviewer noted that the notebook looked modern. The keyboard’s layout was very bad due to the inclusion of a full number pad. The reviewer stated that the result was a confusing and annoying typing experience. The 17-inch display has a full-HD native resolution of 1920 x 1200 but instead of having a glossy screen, ChemBook has matte finish. Despite the HD native resolution, the display’s performance was lackluster. Even with the Dolby Home Theater sticker, the reviewer stated that sounds lacked bass and too quiet. Benchmark scores put the Z7-1719 a little over the average for its class. Games can still be enjoyed albeit at low settings. Battery endurance was great, lasting for 2 hours and 57 minutes which is an hour above the average. Overall, the reviewer noted that the many flaws of the Z7-1719 does not merit a recommendation.
Pros:
-Decent performance
-Good battery endurance

Cons:
-Very bad keyboard lay-out
-Matte finish
-Small HD
