Canon Selphy ES2 Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — June, 2008

Canon’s Selphy ES2 is bigger than the typical thermal dye printer - with its dimensions of 7.5 by 8.4 by 5.2 inches. This makes it closer in size to a regular inkjet printer. Unlike most thermal dye printers, the ES2 combines the dye roll and paper in a single pack, making it easier to set up. It is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 2000, XP 64-bit, and Vista. It features a 3 inch LCD screen to preview photos. It accepts input from a PictBridge camera, most memory card formats, infrared port, and an optional Bluetooth adapter. The author observes that the output is true photo quality, but is flawed when printing diagonal lines with jagged edges. Other than that, it prints good quality photos that can last a lifetime. It has a balance of speed, cost per print, quality, price, with only minimal flaws. Overall, the author recommends the ES2.
Pros:
-Print pack includes paper and dye roll
-Water resistant
-Low cost per page
Cons:
-Bigger than other printers in its category
-Diagonal lines print with rough edges
